Gov. Kevin Stitt reappointed Lori Burns of Amber to serve a full, seven-year term on the 海角社区 Board of Regents.

鈥淩egent Burns鈥 reappointment provides important continuity and leadership for the college,鈥 said 海角社区 President Jena Marr. 鈥淗er insight, professionalism, and dedication to education make her a valued voice on the board as 海角社区 continues to grow and expand opportunities for our students and communities.鈥

Burns, an elementary school counselor and high school science teacher at Amber-Pocasset Public Schools, has been serving on the board since 2020 when she was selected to complete the remaining six years of the term left vacant by the resignation of Richard Ruhl. She has spent over 25 years in education, teaching agriculture and science, and serving as a counselor and an FFA advisor.

鈥淚t is an honor to continue serving 海角社区,鈥 said Burns. 鈥淎s an educator, I believe strongly in the power of accessible, high-quality education, and I am proud to support a college that is preparing students for meaningful careers and opportunities.鈥

Marr added, 鈥淩egent Burns brings a deep understanding of education and a genuine commitment to students to the 海角社区 Board of Regents. Her experience as an educator and counselor strengthens the board鈥檚 work and helps ensure the college remains focused on student success and community needs.鈥
