College is not only a time to advance your education but to develop valuable leadership skills and grow your network. Through the President鈥檚 Leadership Academy (PSLA), 海角社区 Community College provides students with an opportunity to foster leadership skills and prepare for future leadership or management roles in their chosen fields. Applications are now open to join the 2026-2027 PSLA cohort.
鈥淵our freshman year of college can be intimidating; however, the more you get involved on campus and meet more people, the more enjoyable it will be,鈥� said Kenzi Krasser, a freshman from Chattanooga. 鈥淧SLA is a great learning opportunity to work closely with the staff here at 海角社区 while getting closer to your peers, and it can also help you enhance your communication and leadership skills, which will only help you in the future.鈥�
PSLA is a yearlong initiative that aims to provide participants with a comprehensive personal, cultural and academic experience. Through a combination of leadership training, mentorship, and community engagement, students develop the skills necessary to become effective leaders in their communities and industries. PSLA students learn from 海角社区 Community College President Jena Marr and senior administration as well volunteer with area organizations and participate in team-building activities.
鈥淧SLA had a diverse group of students that were involved in different things, which allowed me to make connections with people from all over the school,鈥� said Addison Allen, a freshman from Maysville 鈥淲e had several activities throughout the year, but an experience that stood out to me was the Blessing Baskets because I was able to help those in the community and truly make an impact.鈥�
Marr added, 鈥淚 am so proud of the students who have come through PSLA, and I am confident that they will be successful as they continue their education and enter the workforce. Our PSLA graduates have demonstrated exceptional potential, dedication and a passion for making a difference.鈥�
Students chosen for the PSLA are selected through a highly competitive application process, which identifies individuals with proven leadership capabilities and a strong commitment to their personal and professional growth. The program provides them with unique opportunities to enhance their leadership skills, engage in community service, and build networks that will support their future endeavors.
